Theology and Islamic studies is one of the areas of study in Humanities offered in universities in Iran, which has been launched to step in the path of acquiring Islamic knowledge according to Islamic teachings. On the one hand, knowing God and His teachings and commands is not only the ultimate goal of all sciences, but it is also considered as the basic reason for human creation; i.e. God created man so that he knows and worship Him. On the other hand, the Islamic nature of the Iranian society and the classification of divine teachings into three branches of "knowledge", "ethics" and "rules" make any concerned Muslim man observe the questions and needs of the society in these three areas, and seek to answer them based on Islamic teachings. Among the religious needs of the Islamic society are finding appropriate answers to questions and doubts about Islamic knowledge and beliefs, knowing Islamic resources to help improve moral living and an effective look at the jurisprudential content for policy-making, as well as setting and implementing legal rules and issues.
