MU Student Union Council started its operation in 1990s. The purpose of forming this council was to involve students in the planning and decision-making processes related to union affairs, welfare affairs, as well as their cultural and academic affairs. Making students aware of their rights and directing them to use legal channels to achieve their rights might be considered as the primary objective of the council.

The union council uses the mechanism of representing all university students. By forming this council, MU which claims to respect the rights of all students, has provided appropriate grounds for improving the quality of student services, while it involves students in the related processes.
